The Problem
A food processing plant had two different leak problems: compressed air losses (estimated 25% of output) and a process water leak in their CIP (Clean-In-Place) loop. Two different leak types needed two different technologies.
Detection Method
Ultrasonic detection for the compressed air system — identified 12 leaks with quantified flow rates. Tracer gas injection into the CIP loop for the process water leak — found a pinhole at a welded fitting.
Results
Both surveys completed in a single maintenance shutdown. Compressed air repair saved estimated $8,200/year in energy. CIP loop repair restored process efficiency. Annual surveys now scheduled.
